TV units, shelving, studies, mudrooms and shop counters.
Cabinetry outside the kitchen and the wet areas is mostly open bays, wall runs and a desk or a counter. Set the room in Asterlyn Space and the runs, the lights and the splashback default change to suit it.
This page does not yet show a tested, approved TV unit or study render. The placeholder below must be replaced with one before promotion.

What the app asks about in each room.
- TV / entertainment unit
- Wall, floor and full-height cabinets, open shelves, blank panels and end panels. No benchtop expected. Lights under the open shelves, under display shelves, under the wall cabinets, under the floor cabinets and inside glass cabinets.
- Shelving / display unit
- The same runs, with the open bays called shelves. No benchtop expected. The same five light places as a TV unit.
- Study / home office
- Wall, floor and full-height cabinets and open shelves. The desk counts as a work surface. Lights under the wall cabinets, under the open shelves and under the floor cabinets.
- Mudroom
- As a study: the bench counts as a work surface, with the same three light places.
- Shop counter
- Wall, floor and full-height cabinets, open shelves, counter panels and counter ends. Lights under the counter overhang, under display shelves, behind raised lettering, under the wall cabinets, under the open shelves and inside glass cabinets.
- All five
- Open on No splashback, which you can change in Fixtures. No island, oven tower or fridge cabinet is offered.
Wall, floor and full-height, and the open bays.
Named for where they are.
In these rooms the Materials panel calls the runs wall cabinets, floor cabinets and full-height cabinets, with the open bays as open shelves (or shelves, on a display unit). The blank faces and ends are blank panels and end panels. On a shop counter they're counter panels and counter ends, because that's what the customer stands at.
Each run takes its own colour. A TV unit with oak open shelves over painted floor cabinets is two picks. The same words go to the render, so a TV unit pass is never told about an island or a splashback behind a benchtop (countertop).
Desks, benches and counters.
A study desk, a mudroom bench and a shop counter are work surfaces, so if the reading didn't find one, a banner says so before you render and suggests drawing a zone for it. A TV unit and a display unit aren't expected to have one, so they aren't warned.
All five rooms open on no splashback (backsplash). A desk isn't a kitchen bench. If your study does have a tiled wall behind the desk, turn the splashback on in the Fixtures panel.
Display lighting where the room has display.
The lights each room is offered.
- Under each display shelf, lighting what stands on the shelf below. TV units, display units and shop counters.
- Under each open shelf, washing down the wall below that shelf.
- Under the wall cabinets, washing down the wall and the top of the unit below.
- Under the floor cabinets, shining down the kickboard (toe kick) and out onto the floor.
- Inside glass cabinets. TV units, display units and shop counters.
- Under the counter overhang, washing down its front and out across the floor. Shop counters.
- Behind raised lettering, so the wall glows and the letters stand out. Shop counters with a feature wall.
Tick more than one and they go on in a single pass. Colour temperature is Warm (3000K), Neutral (4000K) or Cool (6000K). More on the lighting and styling page.
Screens on the drawing.
Review detections can name an appliance as a television. If your drawing fills the screen in flat pale blue, as a lot of drawing programs do for glass, mirrors and screens, that fill is treated as shorthand rather than a colour, and the render is told to draw a switched-off screen with the blue left out.
Staged for the room it is.
The photoshoot pass stages a finished render the way a house is photographed for a listing, and what it brings follows the room. Coats on hooks and files on shelves are only asked for where the picture already shows the hooks or the shelves. You tick what the stylist brings.
- TV unit
- A sofa facing it, a coffee table and a rug, with books and a plant on the shelves. A floor lamp, a throw, a vase, a game console, speakers, a record player, collectible figures and framed photos if you tick them.
- Shelving
- An armchair and a rug, books and ornaments and a trailing plant on the shelves. Rows of books, board games and more if you tick them.
- Study
- A desk chair, a rug, desk dressing, files on the shelves and wall art. A computer, a printer, a desk lamp, a whiteboard and a chair mat among the extras.
- Mudroom
- A woven basket, a pair of boots, coats on the hooks and baskets on the shelves. A door mat, an umbrella and a bowl for keys if you tick them.
- Shop counter
- Stools at the counter, a point of sale, counter dressing and stock on the shelves. Signage, a brochure stand and samples on show among the extras.
